This is a European problem, not just Spain

The pattern repeats across the continent. France's education minister called the trend a "cognitive destruction" of young people and pledged action. Germany, Portugal, Greece, and the Czech Republic, all countries with high smartphone adoption, posted some of the steepest declines.
